Jackpot Squares

Move on the glowing square for an increasing prize.

One square glows somewhere neither player can reach in a single move. If you land any piece on it you claim the jackpot. The prize escalates with each claim (tier 1 pays pawns; later tiers can win back knights, bishops, rooks, then queens from among the pieces YOU have lost), and it appears on a free square in your own half. But beware: if you let it sit in your half through 3 of your turns a random piece of yours vanishes instead.
