Puppeteer Chess

Every few moves you get to move one of your OPPONENT'S pieces.

Every few full moves you play one move with one of your opponent's pieces. Puppet moves can never capture anything and never touch the king. The bigger the piece you puppeteer, the longer you wait for your next turn on the strings: a pawn costs 2 moves, a knight or bishop 3, a rook 5, a queen 9.
